Premiere lags when clip is dropped on timeline.

Hey guys, Ive got a PC running Premiere and im really happy with performance in general. But when I drag a clip from the source window, or anywhere for that matter, and drop it on the timeline, Premiere goes non responsive for 10-15 seconds. EXTREMELY frustrating. Does anyone know what this might be caused by? Nothing else lags and i just cant figure it out.

i7 5930k @ 3.5GHz
64GB DDR4 RAM
GTX970
OS and Apps are on a 512GB M.2
8TB RAID 0 for active editing media
2x512GB SSD's for exports etc
