Hi y'all,

Just wondering if any of you have seen this odd behaviour in the latest Premiere CC 2017.1.2?

Basically when playing back any R3D file, at any quality (Full, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8), it pauses for a long time, and then the screen glitches on playback. Please see the attached images.

It used to work flawlessly for me. This only seems to have started happening with the latest Premiere version. I tried using OpenCL and Metal, and no difference there. The latest beta of RedCine-X Pro using OpenCL is working just fine, no glitches there at any quality.

I have the following system:

  • Hackintosh OS X Sierra 10.12.2
  • i7-6700K
  • 32GB RAM
  • 12TB RAID 5
  • Sapphire RX480 8GB

I haven't updated my OS in a long time (they're already up to 10.12.6), so I'm pretty certain it wasn't caused by a driver update or anything like that.

Soooo I managed to resolve the issue. I upgraded to 10.12.6 and the glitching and pausing is gone.

Who would've thought that the latest version of Premiere needed the latest version of Sierra to run properly...
