i can´t open any R3D files natively after i installed the Yosemite update yesterday. Never had a problem before with 10.9.5.
After Effects also stalls when i try to open a r3d File

Anybody else with this problem ?
thanks
Manuel

CS6 required manual R3D codec / lib install in app if I recall. I'd try reinstalling per the old instructions.

Thank you,

You're definitely not the only one. I'm not able to edit right now because of it. Not good.

Reading what I am reading on some various forums I have to say that.
This is the one update I am not going to rush into.

Usually I am much more confident. I upgrade one machine to test stuff out on, but I really feel I want to stay with my current OS and monitor the situation.

Thanks PC but that was with CS5 , CS6 had the Red components integrated.

I swallowed the pill and got my CC subscribtion now.

Like a good wine, a new OS should be allowed to age a bit.

And to take the wine analogy a bit farther, using Premiere CS6 is like drinking a wine that's corked...
Why use CS6?

Considering how many people I see still cutting on FCP 7, I don't see anything particularly wrong with using CS6 if it works for your workflow (or was working...)

Why pay a monthly subscription fee if you don't need to?

I run CC but no judgment for those who don't. This is a problem that frankly shouldn't exist.

I waited for the 10.10.1 update, hoping all the bugs would be squashed and necessary software patches made. Nope- Adobe CS6 still doesn't import RED footage properly and no fix has been issued by Adobe. Hopefully downgrading to Mavericks won't break anything else.

Edit: Holy hell, Apple made it a pain to downgrade to Mavericks from Yosemite. Once you do a Time Machine backup under Yosemite, all your previous slices become inaccessible. You can't do an "archive and install" from an earlier OS, either - you have to back up everything manually, wipe the disk and do a clean install of Mavericks.

This Yosemite update also screwed up our RED Rocket cards (both X and original). So far, no one seems to care about that issue, either.

Seems like this problem haven't been fixed Im guessing? I just upgraded to Yosimite and there goes 3 RED projects down the drain. Pulling my hair out while typing this here.

I doubt it will get fixed. It's the tightening of the (Adobe) screw. CC or die. I ended up backing out of the Yosemite update, which ended up being not that difficult.

This is really disappointing. I am having the same issue. After attempting all the different kinds of options to get the .r3d files to import to Premiere CS6, nothing has worked. I really hope that Apple and Adobe get together to resolve this issue. I know that Adobe's priority is CC now, but this is a true pain to not be able to no longer be able to open Red files in Premiere. For those of you who are using Premiere CS6 on a Mac, do not upgrade to Yosemite. The .r3d files will not import.
