  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Premiere CS5

on the demo:
the project is 4K but, is he playing back having full res "Show quality"?
i am asking because i remebr than on the CS4 demo he was working with the 4K file but setting to 1/4 of in 'show resolution"

Also can the image be sent out to an sdi monitor?

thanks

Hi, questions nobody seem to be able to anwser, so i`ll ask the source.
1.can CS5 read Timecode?
2.How is Datamanagment handled?
3. How about 1000+ cuts on one timeline and the ram buffer?
thanks

Maybe Hayhurst will reply to your post, but here is what he wrote about question number three:
"I think you’ll be very pleasantly surprised by Premiere Pro CS5 for long edits, even on multi-thousand clip project."

Wow!!!!!!!!!! Adobe has definitely outdone itself. I am 200% impressed. 32 bit linear float, 64 bit, unlimited memory, GPU accelerated, 10k canvas, on the fly debayering, 4 tracks of 2k playback depending on machine, long form native editing, 64bit memory arch accelerated After Effects. This is very impressive. we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this really powerful update.
thanks

NOW!! what about color correction & grading, sound sync, XML export, and masking with dynamic feathering. CS5.5 better have those.

Feature set hasn't ever been a Premiere shortcoming, rather day in day out stability... But I'll be taking a gander at their booth.

Hayhurst Thanks

Hayhurst Thanks

We will support the GTX 480. CS5 will run with 480 day one, but will not recognize it for CUDA accelerated running until we get an update out. That update will be sometime this summer depending on what we find as we start really digging deep on it.

Beta support will be showing up in our pre-release very soon after we get CS5 out the door .... that could be a path for many of the people here.

I am a long time Premiere / Cineform user. I want to say I think it's great you are on here. Up to now, it seems that Premiere's weakest point has been dealing with Timecode, and audio sync (Such as taking a separate audio track and matching timecode to video in software).

Are there plans to deal with this?

I also want to point out that Adobe seems to be in a unique position. FCP's development has slowed, IPad and Iphone are getting most of the attention. Aggressive development by Adobe could tip the scales.

Anyway, glad you are here.

Jay

i'm also a long time premiere / cineform user. I had the matrox rx1 and rtx2. cinefom replaced my need for that hardware. i think i will still be using cinefrom for awhile, i love it.

I've just bought an i7 3.2, 12gig ram, laptop. im excited to see what cs5 will add to my workflow.

No SLI leverage in CS5. Sounds like a fun idea for the future.

We have chatted with folks like our friends at Elemental about what we'd do together to make sure that we could target one GPU for PrPro for accelerated rendering and one for Elemental for accelerated compression.

Thanks. Do you have an idea of when you'll be able to test a single 480 with Red footage? I am sure there are at least a few thousand people that would be interested in checking out what they can do. Whether low budget stations or personal stations, a $500 card that could:

a. Fade between two clips at 1/2 debayer 1080p full screen in RT
b. somehow output 10-bit and manage one clip in full debayer in RT

...you'd sell a crap load of extra licenses. Of course we are all looking for this power to be equal in AE.

I am not an Adobe guy. However, this sort of performance would make me an Adobe fanboy.

guess it's time to save up for a quadro 4800 if this pans out. i'm reading excellent stability from beta testers. and with a easy XML transfer to FCP/Color now, it's gonna be easy to change out NLE's and other software to suit all your needs. I think all the software are gonna work nicely together.

mac users, gtx 285 will be ur best option. (i'm a mac editor, but i work on pc's too)

pc you'll get the most benefit. sweet sweet 400 series cards... they have the equivalent power of 4 quad core intel i7's. 16 cores of powah in just your gpu alone. amazeballs.

will i be able to have an ati card in one of my pci-e slots for gaming and a quatro in another slot and have them working separatly?

So what happened to the release of the GTX 480s then? My supplier was meant to have a stock in but they got stopped. Further delays? Anyone know?

No! Biggest issue left for professionals with PPro, IMHO.
