Pre Purchase Questions.

I just had a couple questions before buying the RED Dragon.

• How compact can a simple rig be? Including: (If you got something similar built, it'd be cool if you could post some images.
  • Epic-M Dragon Brain
  • Bomb EVF [OLED] View Finder
  • 7" Touch LCD
  • RED Brick Plate & Battery
  • DSMC Side Handle
  • RED MiniMag System.
• Is it best to transport Assembled or Disassembled?
• Whats the best transport solution for rough, harsh terrain with heavy hitting storms?
• How much would the system above typically weigh?
  • Tripod suggestions?

I'd recommend renting a scarlet setup for a few days, they are cheap and allow you to understand all the options ... and their are a lot of options.

Personally, I don't think you need the Bomb EVF but it really depends on what you are shooting.

Skip the bomb EVF, transport disassembled (I can assemble mine in about 5 minutes , half of which the camera is booting), get the 509HD with 536k Legs from Manfrotto if you want a light, tough, versatile tripod. The camera with just a battery, screen and lens is light enough to hold in one hand, about 4Kg.

I love to transport mine assembled, specially if trekking in the mountains. I have a 5 LCD and a sidehandle attached. Viewfinder if it's very bright. I sometimes keep a v-lock battery in my backpack, connected with the beltclip option. This set up lets me ski with the Epic in my hands and quickly shooting close ups of skiers, getting to the next spot quickly

Tripod looks fairly nice at a good price. What doyou transport everything in?

Sounds like you're recording fast situations, will probably transport assembled as well.
