Hi Everyone.

I am going to be dropping PowerPC support from Glue Tools in the fall. I am starting to find that supporting this platform is becoming more and more problematic as development continues. The biggest problem I have, is that I have to write and debug 2 completely different sets of code to do the same thing. I would rather spend more time building features such as Conform and EDL related tools, rather than PPC Altivec bug fixing and porting.

How many people here actively work on PowerPC systems, and still don't use Intel machines? I am just curious.

I read that the next version of the Mac OS may drop Power PC support completely. Sounds like a good decision on your part. You'll be able to spend the extra time adding features and improvements to the Intel code.

no worries bob - everyone's dropping PPC.

it's all about OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard!!

Thank you for all your support with our PPC systems from everyone here at Delaney Films. We recently added an eight core machine to our arsenal and want to express our support for your move towards Intel machines.

For me, 5 years on my PPC is long enough. I'm upgrading to Intel tomorrow. However, Scarlet users will love you if you give them a PPC alternative. Maybe you should find yourself an intern or something.
