Sorry if this has been covered in another post.

After visiting Birger's web site, it seems that their Canon mount will work only with another external power source. Does that mean those who do 99% of their work trudging through the mountains or desert will need another battery to work the Birger?

But I also gather it may possibly work if powered through the camera body but there could be a failure.

Does anybody have extensive enough experience with the RED/Birger setup to know how well this marriage works?

It comes with a power cable that plugs into the rear aux power outlet. So it runs off camera power, no additional power needed. Theoretically the FF should be more compact than a traditional FF so that'll be better for backpacking too.

It does take the power from the camera, with sometimes, with some lenses,
a little"side effect": it triggers the camera in Time Lapse mode randomly.

TimeLapse bug.

TimeLapse bug.

a little"side effect": it triggers the camera in Time Lapse mode randomly.

If that happens its because the GPIO input is "seeing" a trigger.

So try one or both of these - power the Birger from the upper Aux Power out, or change the function of the GPI B setting.

Thank you Stuart !
Thank you very much.
By the way would you know some qualified person to explain what is the trick to re-install properly the PL mount?
Because installing the Birger mount is rather easy but the little wire with the PL mount is another story if you don't want to "pinch" it !
