I was on a commercial shoot this weekend with my Epic-M. Latest firmware (1.6.24). Mostly shooting 2.4:1/300fps, for a sporting equipment company. Footage looked fantastic. The "yellow" dot error when recording was virtually eliminated by setting the half-down record button to inactive (BIG Thanks to Tom Lowe for the heads up on that). I think that happened only once.

On the second day of the shoot, I started to experience quite a few "Power Spike Detected" warnings, which required a shutdown-up cycle. The error would almost always happen within 10 seconds of starting a roll. I eliminated all the variables (new power cable, fresh battery, Red AC converter, and DC feed off of IDX battery charger), and was left with nothing else to try. Is anyone else running into this error or is it something unique to my camera?

Cheers

Same issue now here on set...any conclusion on to this matter?

I ended up sending my Epic in for service at Red. That seems to have resolved the issue. If you haven't already done so, you should contact Red Support.

Same here. I haven't seen any power spike errors since I got it back from service.

Ah... I thought these were related to low voltage on the batteries.... Are the logs stored through firmwareupdates?

The problem may be related to low-voltage. But in my case, there was no relationship. I was getting power spike errors on every third or fourth camera roll regardless of using freshly charged brick battery, mid-charged brick battery, or the AC-power adapter. It was a bummer to be sure, but everything is fine now.
