I know this was discussed before but I simply can´t find the thread. I want to power my AJA downconverter and my Transvideo Titan from my Red One. Will the current delivered be enough for those devices and what Lemo connectors do I need to get? How are the pins assigned?

Any help?

Markus

Don't do it -- not strong enough. You need to use the P-Tap on the battery mount instead.

Hi Mitch,

thank you very much for your input. I checked in the manual and found that 1.75 Ampere can be drawn from each of the power outputs. Assuming 13.2 Volt this would be something around 20 Watts and I would think both the Titan transmitter nor the AJA downconverter use so much. But since you are definetely better informed than me this let´s the bells ring.

I have a remote setup for an upcoming feature film where we definentely have to remotely control the camera. I have one 13.2 V 150 Watt AC power supply that only has one 4 pin XLR outlet. So I thought about powering the Red and from there the two devices. If I understand you correctly I should better hav a cable soldered and split the current before it goes into the Red. Still I thought it would be safe to use Reds outlets up to 20 Watts.

Sorry to stres this again but we all know the price of good cables and I just want to understand the things I work with.

My best wishes

Markus

Many people seem to be actively prejudice against the R1 aks ports. I understand that people have reported varying degrees of maximum current they can achieve from the ports before the protection is triggered. As such there are plenty of devices that can not receive the power they need from the aks ports even at it's maximum.

However the titian lists it's max consumption as 1.9watts. Even assuming the low voltage of 10 volts, that still only comes to .19amps. Well below the 1.5 amp (or even reported low water mark of 1 amp) of the R1 aks port.

I am always open, so if there is something I am not considering I am interested.

I've used the 4 pin LEMO ports from the Red for Downconverters before. Keslow uses the ports for many accessories.
