So I just cleaned up my harddrives and copied everything to new locations and suddenly found out that importing footage into Clipfinder would take ages. Also opening a quicktime proxie in quicktime player would take 5 to 10 seconds. First I thought there was something wrong with my computer but then I noticed quicktime proxies without RSX files didn't have that problem.

Please somebody try this for me: color correct a R3D file in Clipfinder or RedAlert, generate quicktimes to make update the quicktime proxies with the color correction, copy the files to another harddrive, delete the original.

Did working with the quicktime proxies suddenly become very slow or not?

If so - and not just my problem - than I am afraid there is something very wrong with the way the quicktime proxies are linked to the R3D files and opening them makes quicktime look for the original file first before it will link to the new file - making working with them impossibly slow. That would mean: potential problems with backing or copying R3D files with generated quicktimes.

Some more info:

When you copy a R3D file with generated quicktimes and you open a copied quicktime proxy without deleting the original file, you can see in the movie properties that the path to which it is referring is the original file, not the copied one.

Once the original file is gone, opening the quicktime proxies in quicktime player and just clicking 'save' will update the path in the file, after which opening is as quick as it used to be.
