I have two projects coming up that require 240-300fps footage. I was going to rent a Sony FS700 for the shoots, but have been looking at Epic and its abilities which definitely blow away the Sony. Here is my question... how easy is it learn the Epic and get good results? Workflow? Recording? Remote operation from a workstation? All the things needed to have the camera for 2-3 days BEFORE the shoot and feel comfortable using it at the shoot.

I know these are loaded questions, but I need the camera for a total of two separate weeks. As some background, I have been able to quickly learn and use high speed cameras like the Phantom V642 and Photron BC2., so I'm a reasonably fast learner.

Thanks for any guidance and warnings on this idea...

The Epic is a really easy camera to operate and as long as you expose properly, you'll get amazing results. The menus are well organized and fairly intuitive. In terms of remote operation, I'm not familiar with operating it through a workstation like a Phantom. But you could use a REDMote and monitor to effectively do the same thing.

The workflow can be as simple or as complicate as you want it to be. But the normal workflow is follows:

After you shoot your project -> transcode proxies -> edit -> export EDL/XML for color correction/grading -> relink R3D files -> export final
