Like the title says, post a photo of your hard case setup/layout for your RED. Trying to get some ideas.


Also wanted to see what Pelican case everybody recommends for their RED. I am looking for a case for my Scarlet W and I have friends at Pelican. Need to be able to travel with it, so I would like it to fit within the carry on dimensions.
 
Pelican Storm iM2975 ... not carry-on size but I can fit the important components into a Pelican 1510 with TrekPak for that purpose.

Pelican 1510 with TrekPak. This is the essentials bag. My chargers, mattebox, and other AKS all live in a 1600 that can be checked. I do a ton of travel work and this has been my setup for a while now.

Pelican 1620's for each of the Montstro's. When I need to carry on, it's Think Tank Rollers so I can do compartments for exactly what I need for that job.

A big fan of NOT using hard cases for my camera gear. They tend to be heavy and especially the metal cases wreak havoc with car and house interiors. Rigid cases simply transfer any shock force straight to the interior of the case so unless they are heavily padded inside they are at best only spreading the energy of any point impact. I have also noticed people are simply more cavalier with hard cases and they are more likely to treat them rougher as people believe they are impervious to damage.
If I was checking a camera in on a flight I would use a heavily padded hard case but cameras are so small I always carry them on. I use semi rigid soft cases that easily absorb most of the knocks of day to day use. These sort of cases are also so much more comfortable to carry around. They wouldn’t protect a camera against being run over by a car but thats not the threat. In the long run more damage is likely for a camera being banged about in a hard case with limited padding.

PS I like Nicholas and Steve Green’s cases as their cameras are in the middle of the cases maximizing the foam protection while others have their cameras on the edge of the case therefore minimizing padding and shock protection.
 
My typical setup for flying:

Upper left: Peli1514 + 1519 + trekpak; carry on
Lower left: Manfrotto 3N1 36; carry on
Upper right: Ronin, standard setup, checked (lipo batteries goes to the backpack)
Lower right: Red case, with 1514 pad dividers, checked

I tried to do it with Mycasebuilder and was amaized how easy it was. Their tool is really great and precise. My Gear is really well protected and now I have my case over a year and it's still performing like the first day.

No object is moving inside the foam. But it's still shock resistant and absorbing. A shape that you won't be able to do with straight walls.

In life, not everything is straight.
