  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Post pics of your Scarlet Rig :D

Is that the OLED EVF?
I rarely use the older BOMB.
My 7" LCD seems to get all the work whether on the Clutch, Jib, or sticks.

No, unfortunately. I would like to get one, but I don't use the EVF as much as I do the monitors, so I haven't justified the cost to upgrade. I got the O-Bomb for $400 or so and I felt that was an OK deal. When I start using it more, then I think I will invest in the better viewfinder. As for now, this one works fine ~ I just have to zoom in to check focus at times and that isn't a bit effort. Problem i have ultimately with it, though, is the fogging up on hot and sweaty shoots... I sweat hard on my head and nose and that is a horror combo in that situation. I therefore leave it to a monitor. The benefit of having an EVF is that it is really stealthy compared to the light shining in my face from a monitor and I can achieve different shots when working at festivals etc.

Depending on the environment I use an Atomos Shogun 4K, Small HD 4", my 7" Touch LCD, and at times a Zacutto Gratical Eye OLED (friends).
But I really do miss my 5" Touch.
Gave that up to move to the 7" but now I would love to have another.

Yeah, I really like the 5.0 touch. It is the perfect size for me for most applications. I have a 7" as well, but I don't really like using it that much, as it is a bit of a strange balance on a simple set up. I only use it when I have the camera in a studio situation.

Another stealthy set up from last weekend.

Another one ... this time it is more stylised, while I have it up on as a rental and wanted it to look attractive to the music video maker ;)

Pleasing to the eyes Patrick :)

I should have some updated photos in a week.

How are you syncing audio, clapper?

I think we're all on the same boat when we do run and gun.
I've only had the pleasure of using timecode on a few features using a 744T.
For years the tiny mics (I use two) have been helpful 90% of the time.
I did use a TentacleSync for a while but had some workflow issues.
Its the old one and it still works but its not easy to deal with.

I'm using WC A-Box with a Sennheiser radio system for audio-sync on music videos. It's the most common case I see on most sets that are aimed at MV here. Tentacle can burn-out the analog to digital converter on the side-ssd board, so be careful with it.

Good to know about the Tentacle.
I haven't used it in years so it's in storage now.
Maybe donate to a DSLR friend.
I use the WC in a few cases and it's a great must-have in your tool kit.
I was going to get deep into audio and almost bought a used 744T.
But of late, lighting has been the most needed in my kit.

Hey,
I was getting B-roll for a festival video. I was using the recorder on top there to get some extra sounds of the surrounds. I wasn't syncing up anything there.

Does anyone have a Switchblade-M for sale? I'm desperately needing one!
