I'll start.
tumi suitcase for tripod, legs and accessories (doesn't look like film gear)
carry on - thinktank airport extreme and storm 2500 ( or pelican 1510)
I usually carry 4 batteries on and check the bebop charger.

This is how I took it to Portland. Both cases can fit in the overhead.

+1

Packing your gear in a way that makes you look inconspicuous is something that I find to be very important. My advice is to pack it in a way that suggests there's nothing special inside (you know, not like there's $20K worth of equipment in there...). :) Attracting attention to you suitcases and/or bags would be unideal. During my last trip to Paris, I would walk around the city with my DSLRs in a very ordinary looking backpack and I had an assistant carry my tripod in zebra-patterned bag. Now, a zebra-patterned bag may have actually attracted more attention, but you get the idea. =) Pack your stuff so it doesn't look like your hiding expensive equipment. Carrying around RED's EPIC Pelican 1510 with "RED EPIC" stamped on the side would probably not be a good idea while traveling.

I like the way you packed those. What cases are those? I think I may have asked this in another thread, but are those Pelican 1510s?

Also, did you bring both of those onboard the flight as a carry-on?

This is a new LowePro bag that has wheels, so acts like a crew suitcase, hand carryable into the cabin. It also has shoulder straps and a belt so that it can be used as a backpack over rough terrain. I've already flown with it several times. The Red often causes consternation at X-rays, especially if the Bomb EVF is packed in the case too.

Which model Paul?
Have you tried it in "backpack" mode over any hiking scenario yet? I hear many of these multi-function packs are poor in the field for user comfort. Your thoughts?

To fly with?

This case is more robust for car travel and throwing it around on a daily basis.
My next case im working on will be designed for flying with. I wont be done with it till sometime next month or so.

All the best.

It's a Pro Runner 350, I think. I haven't tried it on long trips where I've needed to use it as a backpack, but it has nice big padded straps and a wide belt. However the squareness of the back might make it a bit uncomfortable after time.
