  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Post-LART Details

what's the price of the RED actioncam?

Also - Any news on the Birger test - when???

The full package for the RED camera will be near the $12,000 and it will be a great gear to have, a great deal for sure.

I know I'm getting one for my studio.

Prices were discussed during the testing at LART but not to say that they are not going to change.

Again this was the approx. Price estimate for the full RED package.

Ciao,

I was very impressed with Brian and his ActionCam. I have a reservation for Curt's Mirus MoCo head, but I'm seriously thinking about passing on that and going with the ActionCam instead as I would probably use it more, based on the stuff I've been doing lately.

Can somebody tell me, what this LART exactly was? So much was written, promised before, where are the results? Everything under NDA or what? By the way: Goffs ActionCam is incredible, Brian is one of the best constructor with one of the best system out there, elegant, swiss made, worth the money...

LART was a group of industry pros getting together to have fun with the RED camera. It was/is under NDA so Sharkguy and Gibby (GibCor) can release details when and how they choose.

Some tests were done... But more than specific tests, LART was an opportunity for many to come together and just use the camera in a variety of situations to see how it handled and what the best approach is from powering on the camera all the way through post. I can't speak for everyone else who was there, but I learned a lot about RED... A lot of things that aren't discussed on the forums much, if at all. It was nice to work with the cameras and see some of the existing issues first-hand. Stuff like the "sensor protect flares". Many of these issues are probably going to be non-issues with the replacement cameras. LART was also a chance to see how RED footage held up in real-world scenarios, so far it's doing very well with FX workflow testing I'm doing on it. I'm building a composite clip with bluescreen footage shot at LART and CG elements. I'm not quite half-way done yet, I've only been able to devote about an hour or so each night to working on it.

I don't think you need to worry about anybody on here not being ready.

I shot with the LART team on Sunday...I can't wait to see the results.

Melissa

Hey Melissa,

It was cool meeting and working with you. You rocked LART! Glad to see you posting here. Welcome aboard!

Sun or 2k hits edge of frame... vertical column of blackness. Until the first 100 get replaced be very careful when pointing at any light source that engages the sensor protect that you don't let it touch the top or bottom of your frame.

Yeah we had that happen the other day on a RED shoot. It seems that we could have a bit of the sun in frame but if we caught the center or brightest part of the sun, the sensor safety kicked in and left us with a black line through the frame.:ranting2:
