Portugal. The Man "Sleep Forever"

Hey Guys,
Here's a music video I shot in Alaska last December on MX. Shot with the 18-50 Red Zoom, a 400mm telephoto, and a pl-mount Lensbaby. Most days it was a three person crew including myself. It was between -20 and -30 degrees most days. Its a two song video so its a bit on the long side.

Dang! You have imagery in this video (the "incident" and some general nature scenery) that's very similar to an idea I first had about 8 or 9 years ago, also for a music video. I never made the video because I haven't completed the song yet (okay, so I'm a bit of a procrastinator). I fully intend on doing both and my idea is different enough, especially in context of my premise, that many might not notice the similarities between the two. However, I didn't want you to think I copied your work (I'm not sure why, but it would bug me if you did). I'm not implying that you somehow took my idea (unless you read minds...do you read minds?) or you didn't have it before I did (not bloody likely :smile5, only that you beat me to shooting it and yours will be considered the one that influenced or inspired mine, which isn't the case. Understand, I've been visualizing this shot for such a long time, refining it in my head and thinking about how visually arresting it would be and how to maximize its impact. These aren't common, everyday images. To be beaten to the punch, particularly given the left-field nature of a concept you assumed no one would see until you did it, kinda sucks (are you sure you don't read minds?). At any rate, congratulations on your video. Now, I must destroy you.

woah. really intense.

beautiful cinematography, and compositing. great work.

the editing is very poignant. the first part was very happy, really like those dogs. then i was sad. then a little bit disgusted. at the end of it i just kinda had this feeling. not really a good or bad feeling, but a feeling nonetheless. i thought it was cool, just a little macabre for me.
