Hey guys, needing advice on a laptop, I'm looking to make a full length 4k doco on lifestyle in a few years mostly on my Hero9 and M2Pro Drone. (I have a lot to learn still, but I have a vision. Would this laptop be overkill or undercutting? I would just get a desktop but I will be travelling. I've just been reading what some editing programs recommend for GPU, Ram, CPU etc.

Took a look at the configuration, that should be MORE than enough for 4K, however:

- The only question is hard drives as it seems like you could have it all in the laptop or go external but that's your budget and what you feel like you would need. Not knowing what Windows 11 will be like, I might say to bump the main drive to 4TB unless you're fine with transferring to or upgrading to a new bigger drive some years down the line.

- Also, I personally would go for the 4K UHD screen with X-rite color calibration, it's just 60hz but unless you're filming a 120hz movie or playing games, there's not much point to 144hz or 300hz.

- Since you're ultimately limited to 128gb of RAM on that system, you should be fine with Windows 10 Home for the most part but if you need to add it to a network then you need Windows 10 Professional, dumb limitation by Microsoft, I know, my day job is being a PC tech for a medical office, everything has to be 10 Pro just to function. If not, 10 Home should be fine and you can always upgrade it later digitally through the MS Store.

Overall, you seem to have the right idea, max out the CPU and GPU if you can afford it and then adjust everything else from there. How will it do with 8K? I'm not sure, however, it should do fine with proxy editing by all means and you can always adjust the playback quality percentage when editing natively, shouldn't be too far down with that much power.
