We've just received our Red One so obviously we've been getting grips with it but one thing we've noticed is that the preview image on the Pro LCD whilst recording is spot on, but when we play back the recorded footage it's almost like the colour bit depth is really low or it has pretty low quality compression applied to it. Are we doing something wrong? We're recording to 8 GB CF if that helps?

Also, when we try and do and perform a black shading calibration as advised, it fails after about 3 seconds.

Any assistance would be very gratefully received.

Cheers

Not sure about the first, but check that playback is set to use clip settings. Otherwise, it may be playing back in RAW view which looks flat contrast and desaturated.

For the black calibration you need a formatted CF card or Red Drive with some space left to do it.
