I'm going for the Johansson model myself ! but I think the chances of getting my hands on this model or others before my birthday in October are slim !!!!

Is that a definite option? I thought that was a user requested Scarlet that wasn't confirmed, or are you talking another version?

It was definite when scarlets and epics were announced. They haven't made any indication that there was a change.

I think its S35 all the way for me. Im not concerned with higher film rates offered by the 2/3, because frankly I've never wanted or needed them.
I'll be starting with a very (VERY) basic S35 package, and if I'm working on a film where an S35 wouldnt be acceptible, then the likelyhood is that there'll be a budget to rent an Epic brain

Poll broken: No FF35 option.

Interesting though that in nineteen pages of the 'No more FF35 Scarlet?' thread, no one from RED posted to clarify, either way, Jim's "(no FF35 Scarlet)" comment....

I'm in the same boat. I'm looking at the S35, CF side module, canon mount (existing glass), side handle, 2 batts, 5" monitor, and redmote.

What I've been trying to figure out is this. If I really need deep focus for a shot, which will require less light. The Fixed or the S35 stopped down. It my my understanding that the density of pixels on the Fixed sensor are tighter which means for the same resolution (compared to cropping the S35), I'd get more light (meaning deeper focus at lower F stops) on the Fixed.

My whole concern is action scenes. We like to do these with deep focus, for obvious reason, and with the Fixed I think we'll get a little more than we would at S35 for that.

Is this wrong thinking?

No wonder scarlet isn't out, they'd only sell 100 or so.
