I had to take so time off from planning world domination by the Red
It seems to be taking more of my time these days

well, with all that stuff on your plate you should take time to relax.:calm: calm time should be ur next time.

can we take my name off this thread?? :help: :)

Joel, who cares, it a blood feud now.

Now there's a rational point of view.

If anything it's an economic war Bin Laden is waging. And he's winning. In 1998 his goal was to see oil at $144 per barrel and to bankrupt America by getting it into a bad war. Oil was $11 a barrel then and we had a budget surplus.

Bin Laden has kicked George Bush's ass and I'm tired of it. Obama has a fired up base and McCain looks like Dole, but without the personality. This one's over.

Yeah, time to move to Czechoslovakia - they've already had enough "charismatic" leaders roll through their country. There's a country (if their President is any indication) that's actually LEARNED from history. Don't really want to stick around for a repeat of the lesson, here.:bye2:

Why did the Chicken Cross the Road?

WOODY ALLEN: So, anyway there was this depressed chicken, and it’s asleep and it astro-travels across this road……

STEVEN SPIELBERG: …the chicken’s ducking and weaving through these trucks full of Germans and this little Jewish girl sees it and she decides to try to save it. Her mother desperately tries to stop her but just then the SS officer sees her and raises his pistol….

QUENTIN TARANTINO: This fucken chicken’s running across the road, but it’s head’s fucken been shot off but it still fucken makes it to the other side…

OLIVER STONE: The chicken’s just a patsy. There’s a whole lot of other chickens were on the road that day that no one in government will admit to that. Every other chicken has died in mysterious circumstances since.

Uhmmm, Joel... not to put too fine a point on it but your ass and Bush's ass are in the same place... America. And have you thought what would have happened if John Kerry had won the second election? or even if Gore had been handed the first one and then been re-elected for a second term? I think we would all be drouning in Jimmy Cartersville, personally.

But the main thing, and very possibly you might approve if this had happened, the Supreme Court would have ruled 5-4 in FAVOR of taking away 2nd Amendment rights in the recent (D.C. gun ban case) because that decision would have been used by liberals as a broadly interpreted right to ban guns period.

If a liberal becomes President, even a seemingly sane one like Obama, he will appoint liberal judges because his party will demand it and will be able to enable those demands. So, if Alito and Roberts had not been appointed, and in their stead a couple of loopy lefty-headed liberals, then there would be no firearm right to defend yourself from those who would take what's yours. Perhaps they would try to hire enough law enforcement officers. Like one for every ten citizens. Still, that leaves you a 90 per cent chance there will not be one around when you need them. So then if you are threatened, don't yell fire... SPEED. A cop will be there immediately.:usd:

Oh, yeah, doesn't this mean Obama and Osama have the same goals - raising the price of gas?

Personally, I think it has been China and India that has raised demand for oil that is bumping up against supply. Whomever is behind it, we should thank them because the American Consumer herd can't be talked out of using (wasting?) energy as though we are entitled. You have to hit us in the pocket book to change our behaviour. Good for whoever is responsible, and boo on Phil Gramm for pointing fingers back at us. Doesn't he know who he's talkin' to? We're Americans! We're entitled!

It's not a point of view it's a fact, as a horrible as of sounds it's true.

As I have said before, I haven't made a choice for president yet. Despite your hopes. Senator Obama is going to disappoitment you and many others. You will see oil platforms of the coasts, you will see higher unemployment, the draft will return, and more blood will spill, evan more than president Bush. Not because of stupidity on Senator Obamas part. It wil happen because the enemy will procieve weekness in him. Which will be a mistake on their part. The next president will finish the war and set the conditions for the lasting peace. It will be the president that fallows him who will be the peacemaker.

Since we no longer have the gold stadard. America will never go bankrupt. We have the cream of the crop from every corner of the world. We will always rise to the top. You pesimistic bastard (I love you man) I should never use the I phone when I post here!!!!

AdobeOne, gotta disagree with your predictions. I think things will go very well in the Middle East and the reason for that is because of that $140 per bbl of oil that Joel is so upset about. The Middle East is booming, and the govts are seeing that they do not have to maintain iron-fisted control over their citizens in order to stay in pouer. They just have to keep goods and services plentiful.

I think the Middle East will soon become a magnificent bazaar that attracts people from all over the world to experience and enjoy the culture. It has always been a mysterious place (remember Casablanca?) and everyone loves a good mystery.

I am personally very upbeat about the way things are going. I think these little hiccups we are now experiencing will make us more responsible citizens of the world, and happier that we are helping to improve things, on a personal level.

Iraq is the cradle of human civilization.

At least, as a territory...

Yes, but Lucy (first known human?) was from deeper in the African continent, wasn't she? Or have they discovered someone that pre-dates Lucy half-way 'round the world? The facts (and truth) seem to change daily. How'm I ever gonna know EVERYTHING!:angry2:

Personally, I think it has been China and India that has raised demand for oil that is bumping up against supply.

Have you ever waited in line for gas? No. There's no supply problem according to OPEC and the major oil companies.

The plummeting value of the dollar combined with market speculation are the prime cause. The China/India demand increase may account for a 20% increase or so... but we've seen a 400% increase.

The devaluation of the dollar is directly related to the interest on the debt from the money we borrowed to invade Iraq.

In the end I do think the Bin Laden and the Oil Companies do both benefit greatly from the increase in oil prices. As far as any of that profit trickling down to the average Saudi or Iraqi as Number6 blindly believes... that's utter nonsense. The Royal Families in the region reap all the benefit, not their people. And Iraq has a 4 million person displacement tragedy - possibly larger than DarFur. Their economy is in shambles and they are begging America to leave despite the wishes of the Bush administration.

:w00t: Casablanca is in west Africa, Morocco. Middle east is over a bit I think.

Actually, Casablanca is in Hollywood. Like Humphrey Bogart, number6 and Adobeone went there for the waters, but their crimes against factuality became too much even for the wardrobe Nazis, who turned off the faucet.

They now await deportation to Saudi Arabia, where they'll explore the bazaars, waterboards and torture chambers at leisure, while pondering the goodness of American foreign policy.

Gotta admit what I'm about to say is a repeat of something I read... I think on a Yahoo link. Didn't know I was going to need it as a defense in a discussion, so didn't save the link.

Anyway, the article stated that like food, oil has to reach a certain perceived market value to trigger sales. That is to say, if a producer thinks oil will be worth x amount of dollars in the future, they will keep it in the ground. If they think that price will decrease in the future (John McCain's proposal to drill offshore etc. will foster this notion) they will put that oil on the market as soon as possible and oil prices will immediately go doun. Oil is a commodity... energy is a commodity.

As a side note, the author of the article also stated that corn for instance, will have to double in price to bring a 10% decrease of product into a supply and demand balance. The reason is? Because people will continue paying the rising cost for the corn until it just about doubles in price, although the supply is only 10% less.
The plummeting value of the dollar combined with market speculation are the prime cause. The China/India demand increase may account for a 20% increase or so... but we've seen a 400% increase.
And?... these are called market forces. Every millisecond everything changes. If you want a mental flat line... well, you know how to achieve that.

The devaluation of the dollar is directly related to the interest on the debt from the money we borrowed to invade Iraq.
I'm no Alan Greenspan so I will concede you are just as likely to be right as you are to be wrong on that one.

In the end I do think the Bin Laden and the Oil Companies do both benefit greatly from the increase in oil prices.
You really should get over this Bin Laden fixation. He's old news. As for the oil companies? Regulate them... and Microsoft... and Apple.... and RED. They are all making too much money!

And they are safer and people are coming back home and opening up their shops again and they are bitchin' at the govt. for the first time in their lives without having to worry about being taken out and being shot for doing so... and I'm out of breath so will not list all the other pluses.

Oh, and the Malaki statement about setting a timeline? Don't you understand politico-speak? That's where you say one thing firmly while saying another to the person you said it about. Sorta like Jesse Jackson saying what he said about Barack Obama on a "cold"  microphone. No tellin' how many white guys are now saying "Well if Jesse Jackson is agin him, I'm for 'im!"

Sorry, I should have explained that I was expecting plate subduction to rapidly increase in the area with the result of either moving the Middle East closer to the Mediterranean or moving the Mediterranean closer to the Middle East.

They got surfin' there? Cool!

I'm not really into sadism for leisure... Uhmm, how much does it cost to get to torture someone?... just curious.

Foreign Policy Smolicy! I wanna know what the govt. is doin' about rattlesnakes!:angry2:

I can only assume that you doubt the connections between the Baath party and the Nazi party. Well how much do you want to bet me. I have 4 paper clips and a lint covered Gummy Bear that says I'm right, what you got Alice:)
