Does anybody know what Red's policy is for "picking up" a shipment from their stores in LA? Are there fees involved? I imagine I could save a fair amount through avoiding shipping rates and the insurance involved.

I'm not sure, but I don't think they normally do that. I'm twenty minutes from the Red store and my stuff was shipped. The shipping charges are really quite reasonable. I wouldn't worry.
I believe Red has a pretty good blanket deal with FedX -- and they pass on that good deal to their customers.

If Red had a good deal with Fed-Ex, it's gone now.
Perhaps if Red charges you the shipping on your account,
you can save through their bulk shipping. Will have to specify
this myself since my charges have been inordinately higher.

If you pick up in California, you have to pay state tax.

It would be really nice if we could work around all this. Once the camera is bought and paid for, we should be able to to stop at the Red Stores and save the bundle on shipping. What we save would be a good incentive to shop :)

I did Will Call Pickup at RED in Irvine when I picked up my Epic-X. Not a problem. Just ask your Bomb Squad Rep.
