Hello everyone !
I want to know what is the PL 2x extender best suited / recommended for my Red Pro Zoom 17-50. No way to check their compatibility. I am referring to Schneider / Century, Angenieux or recent IBE Optics.
There are compatibility and optical quality.
Schneider says there has compatibility with Red primes, but nothing about the zoom ...
Logically, the rear structure of the optical zoom and Prime are the same? ... No?
Same for Angénieux that nothing can Comfirmed ...
Finally, why he has such price differences from one product to another?
Thank you in advance for your answers!
Christophe

Thank you Mitch,
OK, I'll ask Abel. Curiously, no label has responded as regards the 17-50. Only Schneider sent me a technical layout of the 2x extender. Where can I find technical plan of the RPZ, to make a comparison? My bomb squad does not answer me about it.
I would at least compare Schneider and MTF. (approximately the same price)

Just FYI most doublers are designed with very high resolution prime tele lenses in mind, shorter zooms, even if they fit will suffer pretty significant image softening unless stopped down considerably, add to that the 2 stops of light loss from the optics and you're talking about an T8-11 working aperture. Just want you to understand the limitations of the optics.

Yes, I am very concient that causes losses. But my question concerns the compatibility of models available ... and why such price differences between, for example, the recent IBE OPTICS and Schneider or another MTF?

I just learned that the model MTF 2x extender is not compatible with the RPZ 17-50.
("…not be compatible with your zoom lens as the rear element of the lens will clash with the optics in the extender.")
What will happen to the Schneider?…
If anyone has any info, do not hesitate!

Christophe
