  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Please share your 24-70 L Mark 2 footage...

Would be great to see footage of 24-70 mark 2 at 2.8.. (low light especially)
Without other lenses mixed in as its tough at times to make out which was what...

I use it and the mark I too but did not test them.
What i can say is that I like much more the size and front of the new one. I feel that the new one is sharper than the old one, but that is not a test, only impression.

doesnt have to be tests, any 24-70 L 2 footage from the epic would be great to see.. thanks!

These frames are taken from footage shot with the 24-70 version 2. It's much better than v1. I had v1 and now I don't feel like I'm compromising the image like I always felt when using v1.

These have obviously been graded with some unsharp mask added but it should give you an idea about the lens anyway.

thanks for sharing guys.. Doritos commercial shows that the lens has very little bokeh unless its zoomed in.. unless that was the intended look to give a documentary feel?
Incredibly sharp though.. wow

I think it's hard to judge bokeh from one piece. I assume Jarek was stopped down on his wides anyway (he's outside after all). But I wouldn't expect profound shallow depth of field on the wide end of a 2.8 zoom. If you want that shallow wide look, aim for faster PL primes (RPPs, Ultras, and of course Supers and Masters). Or perhaps the Canon 24 1.4?

Hey Jorge,

Here's one at 70mm at f2.8 with some bokeh. This is a jpeg right out of a Canon dslr with nothing done to it. Not exactly the best photo for what you're looking for but I haven't used it really in low light or any narrative stuff, mostly just run 'n' gun, docu style shoots where there's no time to change lenses and some corporate work.

I played with the 24-70 L II at a store.. it was on a 7D body.. I must admit I saw little bokeh expect when zoomed in all the way.. (70mm) Thanks for the frame grab Greg :) Reminded me a lot like looking through a video camera.. all sharp.. but VERY sharp which is nice.. But I might go for some Primes.. Although ill probably regret having to change lenses all the time..
