  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Please, please, please in Build 16

-Audio & TC over HD-SDI, big time needed for proper monitoring.

-The i meta data from the lenses, I want to send my Red back yesterday to get the tabs so I can get this data in there. This is an original feature sorely lacking. I hear this is nearly done.

-User assignable buttons (such as #1 and #2)

Thanks! I sure hope to see all three of these in Build 16. At this point, these mean more to be than further vague image enhancements.
 
Yes. I would kill to be able to enter Varispeed 2k at the push of a button, and then press the same button again to switch back to 4k. (Shooting a run and gun documentary where I am switching between both constantly)

Little thing thou Shawn, if they went into beta test a couple of weeks back, what are the odds of you're request being slipped in now, if it's not already in?
I'm guessing what's in is what's going out...unless of course a low impact/high gain/ fix with a straight forward test regime wiggles in under their code freeze radar.
But hey, I got applauded (not) for requesting/hoping 1080p monitoring comes in build 16/17.
Hope springs eternal......we got that in common.

I'm not complaining, so let's not get into the loop of "stop complaining you're already getting so much". That's like telling my wife that because I bought her a car I don't have to buy her dinner tonight :-). I'm simply bringing up these issues. #1, and #2 on my list were much talked about at the Reduser party, Red needs people to remind them of what needs to be there, it's how they work.

No way dude, those three features have been promised for a long time as I recall. It better not be too late for original features.

The REDCODE engine on the camera can't handle it.

And the ability to shoot 4K 16:9 to import into RedCine...for now.

Let's keep some perspective here folks. Red has made it clear that 16 is "all about the image". We are not going to see to many functionality changes in the camera with this build. All these things will come with later releases.

I agree, I think their priority is finalising image quality/codec stuff so they can lock down a stable SDK, with `hooks`for developers. I`m sure they`ll try and squeese some other unfinished stuff in and any bug fixes too, as time allows. I think patience and trust is required. I really hope down the line we can upgrade the R1 processing power as well as the sensor, but the R1 trade-in-4-EPIC makes that an unlikely upgrade. I`ve already grieved 60fps@4k.

That is so, there are some additional functions in Build 16, but the main focus is image quality.
