I would sell off my vlock batteries in a second and rely only on redvolts and redvolt xl's if there was a smaller charger for travel. Even the normal redvolt travel chargers are pretty bulky and the quad charger is literally a gigantic chunk of metal that weighs as much as a smart car. If somehow you could make a streamlined thin dual redvolt travel charger that charged 2 redvolts or 1 xl I would be in heaven. It would allow me to simplify my run and gun package so much. The quad charger is honestly very nice but it is not practical to bring in sensitive countries where you have to go SUPER minimal.. Or even with airlines cracking down on weight everywhere it just makes it difficult to bring. I feel stuck because the purpose of redvolts are to go really light but all the chargers are pretty bulky.

Make that and I will buy lots of batteries :)

Have you tried sawing it?

It's just a plastic lip that needs to be cut down. I joked about this with the RED guys at NAB and they said it would be fine (unofficially of course). But this would be a slower charge than the Quad charger. I have sold my XL's , otherwise I would have cut it.

I just found out you can use the xl module to charge your batteries which helps... But it still would be great to have another option that's not 1100 bucks. Plus does anyone know if you can charge at least 1 redvolt on the xl module?

Yes the Module can charge the battery - Even while the camera is on and operating through the AC! Also, I guess you could charge a smaller revolt in there. You'll have to secure in there somehow.

@Red,

1) My BS rep is still researching if you can charge an XL with one cable at the same time as powering the Red directly with another cable.
Any official view on that for reduser?

2) Has anyone seen how miniscule PAG battery charger is - it's positively tiny. Maybe RED could reach out to PAG and get them to make something similar for the XL batteries? (or even a mini adapter)

Fingers (and cathodes) crossed!

The XL module acts as a charger when the camera is on and off. However you have to change where the power is coming from. If the camera is off, you have to put the AC cable into the charges port of the module. If the camera is ON and plugged into the AC adapter, the battery in the module will slowly trickle charge as well

Hope that helps.
