Hey guys,
I just bought an alexa xt recently. I decided to shoot open gate with my 16mm UP. I just realized the image circle of UP 16mm is smaller in proportion to the sensor size of alexa and the vignetting was common with 16mm.
But, I have been told that shooting on a 2.39:1 aspect ratio scope does not give you the vignette within the scope. But I still had vignetting within the scope. So I borrowed my friends 16mm and THEY HAD NO VIGNETTE within the scope.
Why does my 16mm alone give a vignette? In fact mine were newer lenses.
I tested both the lenses with the same ISO,Aperture and shutter. The camera was fixed and exposure was the same. Both had perfect focus (No back focus), But one thing which I did notice was that mine had a wider frame than my friends older ultra prime ( around .5 to 1mm difference).
Please help me out , because most of the DP's shoot in open gate and I dont want any complaints regarding the vingetting.
Thank you
