Hello,

I'm trying to transcode 4k MX footage to 1080p Pro Res 422 QT files.

REDCine works great until it gets to the third clip in the cue. And everytime, without fail, the third clip will render about half way and then stop. The render clock keeps ticking, but the % done does not go up.

I've tried on both my Imac (2.8 ghz i7) and my Macbook Pro laptop. Same thing -- it renders the first two clips in the cue and then stops. It doesn't matter what the third clip is (I've tried variations).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Chase,

The RCX application generates a log file when it runs. This file is pretty sparse unless "Verbose Logging" is turned in the General Preferences. When you start the app, you should turn this on immediately.

Next, start transcoding. If you can get the third transcode to hang again, you can go to the Help menu and choose the "Show Log File" option which will take you to the log file. Just can just email it directly to the above email address.

If the "Show Log File" option cannot be done (app is completely locked up) you can find it by navigating to /Users/{Your User Name}/Library/Application Support/red/RedCineX/Logs

and find the most recent log.

If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

Cheers,
David

Have you tried the third clip on its own instead of a batch?

Or do you mean the third clip no matter what order/project etc?

Yes, third clip no matter what order/project.

Are there any tips on what causes RedCine to freeze in general?

I tried both build 348 and 262.
