  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

PLAYBACK

Shot some high speed in 2K two days ago but I can't get Red cine-x to show the files or develope. The 5K material works fine but don't know how to develope the 2K. It worked when you played back the clip in the camera.

Playback is slaved between cameras :)

I think it just plays from start of clip, not on matched timecode though, as I seem to occasionally have small sync discrepancies where one clip starts a frame earlier etc. I may be wrong...

Has anybody tried to do the firmware upgrade with just the battery? I'm just wondering

No, not me but don't take the chance and I make sure to also be on power supply back up in case of a power glitch. Otherwise it might not be a good thing if power company decides to shut things down.

I did it once on location. The main issue is to be certain you will not lose power. If you have a fully charged brick (I wouldn't try it with Redvolts) on a plate you know well and have never had any trouble with, in theory you should be OK. But RDC wouldn't recommend it. It true though that a power outage could be just as likely as some freak problem with your Brick. The APC back up is probabay the utmost security.

In short it works with a battery, there is nothing special about using AC, it just a security thing. If your in a city with unpredictable power or rolling blackouts, use the brick.

That's why I think a fully charged battery is better than the power company. My power fluctuates all the time. And my power backup is glitchy sometimes too. A Red brick has never let me down except for when it gets exposed to an electrical shock situation. But even then, the hard wire power might have failed too (who knows??)

i have some problems updating my remote. it hangs during the install. anybody getting this bug?

Does playback support audio yet? I'm loving the feature, but I can't seem to get audio output when reviewing footage...

Is there anyway at this point to playback using the EVF?

Yes... :)

Use your toggle buttons on the side grip... all works perfectly :)

I love it, Gave it a flogging today... different frames rates.. different moniotrs.. works an absolute treat. :)

EPIC REBORN!!!!

Hey Mark, two things..
1- what version of the firmware are you using?
2- where did you get that awesome tube clock that you had in one of your videos?? How much??

Thanks :-)

For those with problems upgrading redmotes on Mac you need to enter a subnet mask in the network preferences of 255.255.255.0. That should sort you out. And if you can a Wacom tablet, unplug it if it still doesn't upgrade. Seen that conflict for some.

THIS SAVED MY ASS!!
