Shooting yesterday and played back my footage to find it was zoomed in and cropped beyond my original framing. Went through quite a scare and tried several fixes until finally I remembered changing the 720p playback option to 1080p the other day. Changing back to 720 fixed the problem.

I assumed that setting was for the monitors and should have no effect on the playback image in the EVF. IS this a bug?

Hey Bobby,

Exactly the same thing happened here, we were doing pick ups on a feature and shot some motorway car shots when we played it back the director thought we had missed the car completely by misframing, took us a few moments to figure it out!

We had changed the setting for what we thought to be the external feeds coming from the E/T B/O but it changed the EVF/LCD combo as well, not so useful, so we leave it on 720P now!

Sorry, for necroposting. Have anyone faced the same problem? What is the reason?
I have the same problem and I've made some changes in Monitor Settings, but when I returned to the previous settings - notheng help. My playback' image remained cropped.

If you go back to the System>Setup>Preferences>Playback menu page, does the resolution say 720p or has it gone back to 1080p?

If it says 1080p, you have to select the option, rotate the joystick to select 720p, then click the joystick either INWARDS, or much easier, DOWNWARDS to make the selection stick. Not all the Red One menu selections require this to make them stick, but I just got into the habit of always doing so, rather than trying to remember which ones did or didn't.

Also, always left this Playback resolution on 720p permanently - too easy to forget, and get confused!

If that still doesn't work, you may have to reboot the camera, or Restore Factory Settings, or reinstall firmware as a last resort.
