playback 1080 aja io hd good sd-conv?

As many have posted already, there are clients out there who need their material in SD. And there have been many complaints from redusers of decent 4K down conversion to SD. My question is then will the aja IO HD box give a good enough (not for broacast but at least for acceptable SD DVDs) down conversion from the camera's 1080 4:2:2 and/or 4:4:4 playback mode to, for example, 720x576 anamorphic SD 10 bit 4:2:2 pro res?

All the SD I've made from Pro-res or Straight to Mpeg2 looks fine. No complaints here.


I would avoid using DV-50 or DV-Ntsc, they take too much information away, ALWAYS 10-bit Uncompressed, or 720x486 Pro Res (custom)

I just did a test from RAW 4k to SD uncompressed, no issues here! Looks great!

I think the AJA box will only deal with 23.98 Psf but the camera puts out pure progressive. We have had good success recording the 4:2:2 to HD-D5 and using its downconverter to SD.
