play back problem

After reading and noticing many problems caused by play back from the camera so here's a solution we thought of that MIGHT work!!!

a solution by connecting the camera with SDI cable to a pc with declink SDI card so we can record on the pc & play back from the pc
so i want to ask if this is a reasonable solution or not ? & if yes why didn't any one do it before? IS IT A GOOD IDEA? or is it suicidal?

Hi There, this is done all the time and is basically just regular video split. I have done it with both a Mac Pro and Aja card simultaneously while capturing to a Sony sXs video recorder.

The Mac Pro Capture was operating so that we could get be capturing and doing rough keys and composites on set, while the sXs Card recorder was being used as performer playback.

This is fine for preview and framing and performance checks, I would see very little reason one would ever need to playback off camera except for off speed stuff (because the play out to my recollection is always at the project time base, not adjusted for Varispeed).

thanks stuart, actually this is some of a plan for me to avoid any kind of error during shooting thats but nothing happened yet and it won't i hope, i'm doing of plans before i use the camera, since this my 1st experience with red, but thanks and if anything happens i'll send u a p.m but let hope it doesn't get to that lol
