  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

"Play All" FEATURE REQUEST

Ditto, plus I'd like a clip preview view, such as on a DSLR where you can view a bunch of clips at a time so you can go back and watch the clip you want. I'd also like it so I can queue clips faster, you hit 'back clip' 10 times and it sits there and coughs on it.

"play all" might be OK for a 8 gig card but 320gig drive ?
i thought play back was to view the last take/shot you just did or the one before ...
i don't think think they had in mind one going home in evening and using it as a deck ???

Do you have a 320 GIGAS drive ? How lucky you are!
Meanwhile, why don't we let people enjoy looking at their work from a couch ??

how about a small remote that allows us to select and play from the camera. something like the one that comes with the apple tv

this camera should definitely have a play all button, give me a break. theres no reason not to add that, and it should be able to do the play back previous take AS WELL as the couch trick. i can write a hit play why cant i have a little drink to unwind myself

I think they're aiming for more of a pro camera which borderlines to cine work. That means that you'll have to hook up your computer at home and use it's "play all" function. Personally I don't want them to waste their time on such silly features. I rather see it to be a very small but powerful camera when it comes to shooting. Being from the cine side it makes no sense to have such a feature, keep the camera a camera.

Let's face it - you need to use REDCine for something so why not use it to convert it to a playable format

Playback is gonna be used to compare takes not just review the last take. Just today, shooting on an real actual Red Camera we wished the playback was a little more like the implementation on the HVX with thumbnails and back to back playback of all the clips in a row. It's useful to playback the last several clips and decide if its time to roll one more take.

If you want to stop watching clips, you just hit "exit" like you do now. :shifty:

IM NOT TALKIN ABOUT YER DAMN WORD,

build 14/15+, christ how hard can it be ...

ease up. take a breath, no reason to rant.

Point is, there is much on the plate and all are waiting for features. Some want the display to dim, others want a play all. Give it time. Nobody said its impossible.

why have to import/convert when you can hook it up to the tv in two seconds and review ??

when the time comes youll want that "play all" feature real quick

OK let me explain a little more. Were I'm coming from we're not sure if a playback feature is good at all. We don't want to risk to format the card (I'm saying "risk", note that). Therefor we will implement with a video assist playback system, just like we always have. This way we will look at Prores playback immediately without tying the camera up. This is just how we work and it's quick (not cheap) and safer.

PS I see this as a digital cinema camera not a EFP or similar

if you want INSTANT playback of any clip shot the whole day - then make it easy on yourself ... hook your HD-SDI out to a AJA i/o ( or other converter box) and record it to mac ( pc ... video village) .. now you have instant play back of any clip you shot that day , the day before etc the director/producer can compare clips till their hearts are content ...

use the RIGHT tool for the specific task ...

that would not make it easy for me, though. there is no video village or hdsdi etc on my super low budget run and gun handheld ultra minimal shoot, etc.. what would make it easy is the "digital SLR zoom out and see thumbnails of all the shots/play all feature" added.
use the RIGHT tool for the specific task ...

as for the right tool for the specific task, i think that should be the RED ONE =]
