I'm shooting on several formats including various types of medium format film, but my Dragon is my main camera for everything important. Love the dynamic range and it's a system I like quite a lot.

Is there plans to make a still camera from Red? I could use something that would only be possible 4fps at the most, with a very MP for each shot. My settings are mostly 4fps, 6k, 22.5-45 degrees shutter (depending). Really just would like much more resolution if possible.

Here is some of the work I've been doing - all shot on my Red Dragon

Well Red is a stills and motion camera as you've demonstrated so I don't think they would make a dedicated stills only camera. The roadmap had medium format and larger cameras in the lineup. 8k weapon will get you vistavision and the higher resolution.

I think if you need resolutions over 6K, you'll be looking at other brands for a long time. One of the upsides about dual-purpose cameras is they tend to hold their value a bit better, since they age differently for stills and video shooters.

Raul, I like your style. A unique take on the genre. :)

I agree with you overall. I'd love to see a Leica M with a Dragon sensor in it. You'd only need 12fps or so. And it would be done in total silence. I do wonder why mirrorless cameras have physical shutters - even though Leica has very quiet shutters in the T, M and SL.

I love shooting my RED dragon. But in a studio environment with strobes set up, I would never swap my medium format Leaf back for it, they are not even in the same category.

I'd absolutely love a red stills "scouting" camera/directors viewfinder combo that just takes stills w/ meta data and has a dragon sensor.

I like shooting stills on my Epic Dragon too (almost all photos on my IG page were shot in 6K 12fps stills mode). Making the DSMC3 brain smaller might take care of some people's need for a dedicated RED stills cam.
