  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Plan your own Scarlet rig

ah, I was only saying cause your proposed kit was with Scarlet fixed : )

Yes ^^
But I think I won't use a lot the remote follow focus anyway. It's a feature that is nice to have on the camera, but I won't use it... Or it will be for very specific shots like 3 shots a year.
If I buy a SCarlet, it will be for personnal use only and for my amateur movies, I think I won't be putting the camera at the top of a 30 meters crane very often:lol:

Where do you actually mount a brick on the Scarlet?

Like on the Red One : there is a power port on the Scarlet body where you plug the Red Brick (which obviously would need some piece of rig to stand along the camera)

I've thought about this option too. It seems like the batteries last much longer, plus you won't need to buy Red bricks.

Are they Still coming with interchangable lens Scarlet?

Updated Scarlet rig (04/20) :
- 1 x RED Scarlet-F package : 6 050 $
- 1 x SSD module supplement : 1 000 $
- 1 x SSD 128 gb : 1 800 $
- 1 x RED top handle : 175 $
- 1 x RED Gunner : 1 000 $
- 1 x RED DSMC Front Handle Assembly 19 mm: 1 775 $
- 1 x RED Quick plate (for RED Brick) : 500 $
- 1 x RED Arm 9" : 150 $
- 1 x RED Station RED Mag 1.8'' : 250 $
- 1 x RED Brick 140 Wh : 450 $

13 150 $ (estimated prices)

I suppose that the RED Side handle will be included in the Scarlet-F package because of the RED Volt but I'm wondering if the RED mote will be also included.

I'll plan only when they release the final pricing and specifications of the Scarlet and stuff lol

Thats what I am holding off for. It would be amazing to know final prices then its easier to plan and work out what import duties and tax has to be paid. aaargh!

I'm in the same boat - sometimes feels like I'm mainly saving for the import duty & VAT!

Most of the prices listed here are the final ones.

Only the Scarlet-F package & the RED Gunner are estimated prices. I had to start saving for a new rig before final prices release.

And you know how things are with RED , they may change any time.

I've been through this planning exercise multiple times. It is a sensible and fun task to do. Here is my latest thoughts for a Scarlet Cinema.

Scarlet Cinema brain $3750
Side handle $950
PL mount $500
Side SSD module $1500
2 x 64GB SSD $1800
RED Station 1.8 SSD reader $250
2 x 90wh V-lock batteries and charging station $1000 +/-
Small HD DP4 EVF/LCD $750
15mm LW riser base/rail set/mounting arms, etc. $1500
Used or modest cost mattebox $900
Filters $400 (already have some)
Used 16mm camera lenses ( already have) $3400
Lens mount conversions and maintenance $3000

$18,450 give or take.

- 1 x SSD module supplement : 1 000 $
- 2 x SSD 64 gb : 1900 $
- 1 x RED top handle : 175 $
- 1 x RED Arm 9" : 150 $

Does anybody know what the figures for this on the Red One are? It might give some indication on the likely package cost in the EU.
