I just dug out my old PixelVision PXL-2000 camera I used quite a bit 1990's. I remember several years reading about some outfit that did extensive modifications to the PXL-2000 such XLR outputs to record out to DVcam and MiniDV decks and other mods. Does anybody have any idea who this guy was how to get in touch with him?

The cameras are easy to modify in order to get audio & video out. Here's the instructions, I got these off the web years ago. Ignore the shoddy connectors that the guy has dangling from the cameras in the last step and instead drill a couple of holes into the middle of the sticker on the back and fix two RCA connectors there (like below - ignore the third (red) connector, its just resting in the tv socket). The easiest thing to record to are one of the various models of Aiptek cameras that record to SD card.

Have fun!

I did this too but used a BNC connector for the video. Its just a composite SD signal, but what's the difference when you're talking 99 B&W lines?

Used this puppy for a while for music videos and the like. I know we're not supposed to talk about other cameras on REDuser, but I can't imagine anyone could ever have an issue with a PXL-2000!

Well, I was going to buy a Scarlet... but now all this PixelVision talk has brought out the inner hipster in me. The irony of editing 15fps 99p video on my 8-core mac with 12gigs of ram is just to much for me to pass up... sorry Red.

It's cheaper than an Epic, but still kinda pricey.
