Im getting this pink/magenta color in my 4.7 touch monitor whenever I shoot bright outdoor shots. I doesn't show on my footage but is really evident on my monitor. I don't recall this happening on my Weapon with dragon sensor, but since Ive been shooting on Helium I've noticed it. Is this normal?

Are you sure you don't have any exposure tools turned on in the Display menu??? Some times the Focus assist caused strange images anomalies. Or check brightness setup in display monitor.. Other than that it is kind of strange.

Yes, normal. Those areas are completely clipped (see the traffic lights) and in-camera playback doesn't have the code to fix the colours of clipped highlights. However, the R3D is normal and will play back fine outside of camera, as will the ProRes and DnXHD.

Sorry, but I don't understand this. Red monitors have been able to correctly display clipped highlights as white for years. Why the problem now? Isn't it possible to tell the monitor to just turn those pixels white?

It's not the monitor. That's what clipped highlights have always looked like when you do a low ISO gain so as to see what is happening there. You see it on Helium as it require much less gain to achieve any given ISO setting because the sensor is so much more sensitive. Again, this is only on playback. On record out to R3D and ProRes / DnX it doesn't occur.

Ok Great, yes it does not show on my R3D footage just on the monitor. But thanks for the info.
