Physically mounting timecode receiver to a Red camera

Hi folks,

I was hoping some one could show or explain how they physically mount a timecode receiver to a Red Camera, preferably to a DSMC2 body. At the moment I am investigating camera/audio options, I'm looking at a Zaxcom based system and am trying to understand how I would mount and cable an ERX2TCD to the camera. With the minimal external wiring philosophy of the DSMC2 system I'm trying to figure out a sleek mounting option for IFB audio/timecode to keep the camera package compact and tidy. Alternativley, is there such a thing as a time code receiver expander module that plugs directly into the Weapon?

Conversely, I think OH is working on some modules with TC built-in... Though maybe I'm confusing it with something else.

+1 there fore I beg for a DSMC2 module with integrated Superslot but Zaxcom, as of today, isn't taking part of this initiative. Audio Limited, Lectrosonics, Sennheiser, Sound Devices, Wisycom do.

I just use the Zaxcom EX, with Velcro on its case and camera back battery. Works a treat, for reliable crystal calibrated Zaxnet Timecode.

If the weight is light enough I also like to Velcro things to the back of my onboard monitors. For things like a lockit box where you just want to set it and forget it. It works great. And I have a feeling with the smaller physical real estate of the DSMC2 bodies this will be even more helpful.

I also use velcro. I have the soft side on my Brain and the back of my batteries. Depending on what I'm mounting, and what form factor I want to be in, I use either or both velcro locations.

In DIT work, I absolutely love this ERX system. It gives you not just a scratch audio track to camera but also a continuous timecode burst so you do not have to re-sync during the day. I have found though that the voltage output does like to be at 1V for the Red to recognize it adequately.

Also, velcro is your friend for mounting, curious though that Zaxcom did not provide even one 1/4 20 mount hole on the unit since it's mostly made to live on camera bodies.

Chris, I have that Mozgear unit and it is slam dunk great - small and useful on my Dragon and Sony A7s where it puts timecode and audio on L/R tracks. I prefer to work with the Zaxcom system to get the audio scratch track, but when the mixer only has Sound Devices then the Mozgear is what I use for TC sync. Holds it longer and more accurately than Ambient/Lockit and runs on two AA bats all day.
