  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Photo Fast CF Card 533x

They only claim 40MB/s write... So the odds of it sustaining a write speed of about 38+MB/s on RED for 4K RC36 are pretty minimal. And there's also the question of availability -- as in when will they actually be available to purchase in volume and at what price?

I was in Akiba today actually picking up some computer parts, so next time I go I'll have a look and see if they are available and how much they go for. Depending on price I might pick one up and test it for speed in my PC, since the camera itself isn't set up to do any sort of speed check and won't let you stress test it at 4K.

If necessary I'll pull one of our CF RED modules and plug it directly into a SATA port in order to eliminate any potential bottlenecks.

Which reminds me.... Red, I sent you my v2.0 CF module a few weeks ago, still waiting for my replacement v2.1 module. I'll email you guys directly anyway to check....

Cheers,

Paul

new card with 80Mb write and read

So, they change the specs twice in the last week? WTF is Akihabara News smoking? What is it really?

I'm still assuming the originally reported 40MB/s write speed. Because the PhotoFast 32GB 366X cards, which are available, only claim a 25MB/s write speed. And if we're going to get more than 3X the speed by simply moving up to "533X", then their multiplier numbers are not just marketing wow-factor numbers, but completely groundless and outright bogus.

These 533X cards have yet to show up on the PhotoFast web site or in an official press release.
