I am putting together my shoulder rig set up.
I almost have it.
Now I need to figure out a monitor set up.

I have a smallhd indie7 monitor. I like it on top of my top handle. But not so much on my shoulder set up when I mount it to the side and in front of my face.

I am wondering how it would be if I use the phone. My intention is to use it only in a shoulder set up or other specific situations.
Is phone good for viewing and judging focus as I pull focus manually ?
Will the lag some people talk about cause an issue with pulling focus and the resulting image ?
If so, will phone tethered to link adaptor solve the issues ?

I find it working well, but the lack of getting a focus peak overlay is lacking. We can get it to LCD and to SDI out but not Komodo Link. The link still also has a lot of stuttering that is annoying when trying to follow a subject, as well as some latency that is uncomfortable. I think those can be improved upon, but the Link is the cheap solution to monitors and a very good backup if you have a monitor that fails, but if we don't get improvements on performance for Link I'm not sure it's gonna be practical in a critical application.

Thanks for the response man.
I appreciate it.
Is the link any better than wifi in practice ?

I just finally got my Komodo today, and am a little bummed to see that the Link Adaptor has as much lag as it does. I think it's a slight improvement over the wireless, but it's still about 5 frames (measured by shooting slow-mo with my iphone at the Hydrogen One I'm using as a monitor with the Komodo and Link Adaptor and dropping a small object and figuring out the offset in frames from when it hits the floor, then dividing by the slowmo). At least I finally have a use for the Hydrogen that I bought to be a wireless monitor (which didn't work as promised, of course), plus it got me the discount on my Komodo, so I only feel a tiny bit burned :-) Hell, if the latency was more like two frames, I'd feel like a got a good deal!

Cheers,
Frazer
