Would this work for RED? The transmitter is a bit bulky but the price is not bad: $681,99 at Amazon.

It could. I have used a KVM (DVI) monitor extender that runs over IP, through a 5Ghz wireless router/bridge and it worked fine.
 
Gefen also has wireless hdmi solutions.
