Yes. If you have the correctly wired cable for the non-standard 1/8" jacks on the front of the Epic.

And to Eric's point, look HERE for a clear explanation of the cables you need. The cables mentioned in this post do pass phantom power and do provide proper balanced connections.

If you read the whole thread (not really necessary) you 'll see several manufacturers mentioned that make better-quality, better-sheilded cables. Red makes its own version now as well. As long as they are wired correctly, they'll do what you need.

Thanks, is RED 's XLR MICROPHONE CABLE (20") provide proper balanced connections ?
Also, compared with the 3.5mm output to XLR , is the sound quality better directly from the XLR in PRO I/O MODULE ?

Yes to the first question.

The 3.5mm connector is not inherently a worse or better connection (but is substantially less robust and likely to wear poorly with repeated connection cycles) than an XLR. The 3.5mm inputs are Mic Level only, whereas the PRO I/O does allow Line Level inputs. However, some Redusers have said the PRO I/O has a built in fan which is more objectionable than the camera body fans, so may not work if you do a lot of quiet interviews or wildlife!

You may also want to investigate W00den Camera's A-Box or similar breakout boxes from other manufacturers to protect the 3.5mm connectors from wear and tear: http://goo.gl/0lujka
