  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Peter and the Primes

I want silver!

(well, uncoated aluminum-alloy, but you know what I mean) :)

Shawn, didn't you hear? All pre-orders of RPPs come bundled with the Red clip-on as a gesture of gratitude! Thanks REDDDD

heh heh actually that does have a coat on it.. a clear coat :) it was the first thing i did when we got our powder coat booth :)

Whoa!! Dude, are you hinting that the RPPs have an IR coating??? Because if so, that's freakin brilliant and yet another reason the RPPs rock over competing glass.

OK guys, its 2AM and I just got back from shooting some "dark" stuff with the RPP's. In about 3 hrs I have to run to the airport to catch a plane to Seattle, where I am going to be until Wednesday. Lets see what I can upload before I have to go.

I did shoot some "magic hour" shots (the sun eventually popped out for that!) and during and right after the sunset. Then I went back to the house and lighted up the outdoor fireplace and some candles. The footage is amazing!!!

BTW: The R3D's from Saturday tests are up on the server. They are all here:

We have shot much more and I will upload more eventually. Please bear with me...

:) Peter

It would be nice, but...I can't see how it would be technically possible. I am not aware of IR absorbtion filters. Any reflective filter would cause ...well, internal reflections in IR spectrum.

I suppose there could be a trick where those reflections are bounced off in a clever way, but this would have to be....well, really clever.

It's mysterious. Jarred, can you shine some light on this?

About the weight:

They are little on the heavy side, but that is expected from pro-quality cine glass. People used to ARRI's will have no problems:

Approximate weights:
RPP 25mm: 6.0 lbs
RPP 35mm: 6.0 lbs
RPP 50mm: 4.5 lbs
RPP 85mm: 4.0 lbs
RPP 100mm: 4.5 lbs
RPP 300mm: 5.5 lbs

Full set: 31.5 lbs (when weighted together)
Jarred's custom box: 38.5 lbs

Total weight I had to carry all weekend: 70 lbs (lenses only...) :head_explode:

IR coating lens is known from optical glasses so maybe Jannard took it from his Oakley experience.

Yes, but it is IR reflective - not good to put inside the light path of a lens. The IR reflective element must be outer-most of the optical system, not inside a lens.

Nobody knows how is done???!!!

Maybe it's a brand new RED IR lens coating patent!?

love the RPP candles heh heh heh... great work Peter!

wholly crap. its already 3:30 am... how did that happen?

Peter.. your gonna miss your plane :)
