Sometimes we do dumb things in the heat of the moment ... as some of you may know I'm an ex-Brit and though I've been in LA for twelve years now, I still have that British bulldog attitude underneath - not always PC .... however, that is not really an excuse for my bad behavior.
Michael Cioni was gracious enough to call me this morning and ask me about a couple of posts I've made on RedUser concerning his business arrangements with his previous employer .... I've re-read them, and indeed I was totally in the wrong to make any observations on what may or may not have transpired between them .... it was none of my business and I should have my kept my mouth shut on such matters.
Michael has been a tremendous force in changing the landscape of digital post and a strong ally of the RED community ... he's very knowledgeable and a super smart cookie ... I'm sure his new company LightIron will continue to deliver great services and push the envelop forward in the development of file-based workflows and post.
And just to be totally clear, Michael did not put any pressure on me to make this public apology nor did he threaten me in any .... I may be dumb ass sometimes but as a Brit, we still have to behave like gentlemen and take it on the chin.
I wish Michael all the best in his new enterprise .... I'm also going to invite him to participate in the Epic/Scarlet Open House we're organizing with Jim and Jarred on the 16th January here in West Hollywood (details to follow shortly) .... his RED knowledge and expertise will be welcomed by all.
Once again, Michael, sincere apologies ... you do good work.
Neil
