S35, 4k, raw, DR from hell, small, upgradeable to an even nicer sensor, $15600 for a professional working package( for those with lenses already) and a ticket to a very red program/family.
I saw a lot of threads saying bad things and that's ok, lay down your frustration , I just thought of starting one to express how happy I am right now.

Yep share the sentiment exactly feel more comfortable everyday about making the right decision. I reckon another couple of days once the "anger stage' of grief is over & everyone moves onto "acceptance" This forum will be really useful in optimising the performance of these new cameras for users.

Absolutely thrilled. I bought one when I was able to get through to the website on opening night, 9:03pm. Can't wait to get my hands on it. I personally hate the look of 2/3" and actually don't care about not having slomo abilities in camera at 4k, as I work in post and have the ability to essentially double the 60fps to 120 with minimal vertical resolution loss.

My real excitement is the dynamic range and highlight handling, that's what looks filmic to me, not resolution. I could care less about 5k, or even 4k. 2k meets my needs just fine. 24-60 is all I need, and honestly the people whining about 120fps need to think about how many times they've really needed those slow motion shots.

I was up in the air on the 3rd about which camera to go with, as I have never owned a camera in my life (always rented kits, all the way back to the DVX100) but after seeing the canon footage, which looked video to me, I knew Scarlet was the right choice.

Exactly !!

Could not have said it better myself.

I am busy now making plans and working out what else I need to go with this beauty.

Oh what fun we are having ! I could kiss Jim.

For those that cannot afford the scarlet, I know how frustrating that feels as I could not afford the epic or the R1, but I can now sell my car for the scarlet and have money over for a taxi and off I go very happy. I love this feeling and the excitement of what we are creating as I am old enough to know this is only the beginning of great things to come for everyone.

I'm with you. So happy - by the time I'm ready to shoot I'll be 2x over budget, but the equipment I have will be tenfold better than what I'd anticipated. Thank you.

Another praise for the Scarlet. Its everything an indie filmmaker would want. Compare it to everything else the competition is offering, this is way above it. I'm going to start a separate thread to express this.

Almost exactly what I wanted...and at a fair price point, in my opinion. I do understand the disappointment of those that hoped for something different. But if you could only say one good thing about RED, it is that it has changed the industry forever, and we will see many different cameras from many companies...soon there will be something for everyone.

It's a good and smart move from Red. Just the plain fact that you can interchange everything between Epic and Scarlet is a huge benefit. Productionvise both for Red and us, the users.

I'm in stage 3 Epic, but suddently the possibility of buying or renting a Scarlet as b-camera showed up. Interchangability. Hos cool is that.
Red are going to sell a shitload of cameras. Good for me who are in the game. Sad that the competition are so lame in comparsion. I wan't Red to be on their toes.

Better than what I had previously, and it's affordable and better specs than most cameras out there for that price range. I'm completely happy.
