Peoples Health Care Bill

Well, good luck with trying to claim health insurance after you've had a car accident in which you weren't wearing a seat belt.
Should that happen, that would be one of the consequences of my actions. I accept full responsibility for that and will not whine.

Milan, you are forced to pay for car insurance because not having it could cost others in an accident. Your taxes pay for police and fire as a means of protecting you. People who have health insurance actually overpay in order to pay for the indigent. All this health care bill is doing is shifting that payment from the caddilac plans so that everyone, through their taxes, subsidize those who do not have insurance. Forcing me to buy insurance that covers conventional medicine but does not benefit any who choose to live and heal using alternative means? That is coercion.

You are subsidizing the uninsured right now. Again, who do you think pays for people who fall ill but can't afford to pay the colossal cost of the treatment under the current system?

Making them pay for themselves/making health insurance affordable/stopping insurance and pharma corporations making obscene profits from your misfortune - can only help you pay less - not more.

Plus, no society benefits from sick and bankrupt work force.

Some of the comments in this thread beggar belief.

I've travelled extensively throughout America, as I have much of the world. To be perfectly blunt, parts of the US are positively third world.

To me, it's scandalous that world's richest nation can't provide the same level of healthcare as some of the poorest countries on the planet and for people to view the needy in society as vermin or scum or very sad indeed.

It's like there are two Americas, one where people can afford everything they need and one where people can't even afford to put food on the table let alone basics like healthcare and education. That is a recipe for disaster.

There are no easy answers when it comes to providing healthcare in any one country on the globe, but to treat the subject like it's a Hollywood western and to casually mix in Xenophobia and hatred into your argument is frankly pathetic.

or be self persevering and BUY YOUR OWN health care.

Your points are skewed Milan..

I dont HAVE to buy car insurance.. I can simply choose not to drive ..
Fire.. police.. army.. roads.. so on.. thats infrastructure. OBVIOUSLY you need to pay a tax in order to have these things available to you, that makes perfect sense.

You can choose not to drive, really? You are in OC and you can live and work without driving? Really?

We disagree on everything, let's just leave it at that.

Jim asked us not to discuss politics here. He was very clear about it. You guys are going to piss him off.

So, how much of your quality life are you willing to give up so those "third world" Americans can do better? Have any extra bedrooms for them to move into?

Look, America came about because the adventurous from other countries would take the chance to come here in the hopes of being on a higher rung of the ladder. Most of them left countries where you could move no higher than the station you were born into.

We are much like Australia which was set up as a penile penal colony. (There were no women there at the beginning) They are from a rootstock of chance takers.

Now, a handful of people in the congress want to take steps toward making us all equal. We are not all equal and if we ever accept that we are, well, we are just taking up space that some other animal could put to better use.

thats correct.. I choose to live in OC where I choose to drive.

Im not forced to do anything.. oh except now.. Im forced to buy THEIR health care.

Trust me.. I know this country has its poor and unfortunate. Im not saying to not help them. Im just saying dont force ME to do anything i dont want. im not the problem here. Im not clogging up our ER with the common cold.
So why am I forced to empty my wallet for this corporate run government.
there should be health care reform. But what is happening in congress right now is not health care reform. its a health care dictatorship.
Bottom line.. its unconstitutional. Therefore its Illegal.

This BS that is happening right now in the US is a mirror image of other fallen nations.. they become tyrannical, and next thing you know our internet is blocked, our guns our gone, we are being fed horse shit daily, and believe it or not eugenics plays a big role in all of this.

It seems like a leap of logic that being forced to pay for health coverage if you can afford it will lead to internet censorship, the repeal of the 2nd ammendment and a dictatorship.

Hawaii has managed to go for the last 6 decades without descending into anarchy. Canada still has the appearance of a democratic system as has most of Europe and Asia.

It's very simple. Everybody already gets free healthcare. If you show up at the hospital they can't turn you away. If you have a heart attack they have to save your life. If you were irresponsible and didn't purchase insurance you still get coverage. But I HAVE TO PAY for your surgery out of my insurance premium. If you want to carry a card which says "if my life is ever in danger leave me be" then I'll let you opt out of insurance. But what if you were stabbed would we have a quick trial to determine if you were at fault for your health?

You don't get to have it both ways. You expect free health care but not expect to be forced to pay for it if you're able.:smash:

Ok.... we're done here. Along with many US residents, I have a very strong opinion on the health care bill and I have spent a lot of personal time being an involved Citizen and promoting my views. But not here. This is not the place for it.
