i wanted to share a moment i had tonight while watching the people's choice awards.
now first let me say that i rarely watch tv, when i do it is the ducks playing football, the kings playing hockey or sprout channel for my kids...
but tonight i knew that julie bowen would be presenting and i worked with her all day for diet pepsi today. (she is a riot btw, so funny).
anyway, so i watch the show on and off with my wife and kids, not really 100% paying attention and missing many parts of it for food runs to the kitchen or diaper changes ( not mine, my 8 mo old)...so i see an ad that jarred probably will talk about in a post the next couple of days and then i go in the kitchen to make some food for my wife and when i come back, i rewind the show to see the ad again and while i am rewinding i see katie perry...then pink, then taylor swift, then julie bowen. all for one awards, best female artist.
julie is presenting and pink, taylor and katy are 3 of the 5 nominees. well in the last 4 months i have worked with all 4 of these women shooting something on the red one #0031. some of the stuff we shot is shown during the presentation and i am kind of blown away at how much red has infiltrated the popular media acquisition business.
in 3 1/2 years there is so much content being acquired with cameras made by red, i can't even imagine what this business would have looked like if jim had done what 99.99% of any of us would have done if we had his money...sit on a beach...
i wanted to say, even though it is a cheesy awards show, ok probably the cheesiest award show if you can even call it that, but it still represents a snapshot into our (usa) popular culture for the year. and for so much of it to be shot on red, speaks volumes about the market saturation that has occurred because of jim and team, but also because of this forum and all of us...we have watched each others back and pushed this thing out into the far reaches of the industry and stayed up on our craft to make it easy on the guys spending the money to make the content.
epic is going to be amazing, pat your self on the back if you are reading this we have gone wide and deep into the culture and it is just getting started.
