I really like the look of this case...not too big, carry-on size, very protective.

I plan on doing a lot of run and gun type stuff though and am not sure if this will be to cumbersome. I was thinking of maybe just buying the black shell and then putting a camera backpack with my gear inside of it for travel, then removing the backpack when im out filming. Good idea or no?

My next question is which option do you all think is better : foam or dividers?

I have heard foam protects better, but has the chance to degrade and get into your equipment.

Dividers are more customizable but slightly less protective. Let me know what you think, also any pictures of packed pelican 1510's would be appreciated.

I plan on carrying the following inside:

- Scarlet 2/3" Cinema w/ battery module, side cf module, module adapter, and pl mount all attached
- angenieux 12-240mm lens (big lens)
- angenieux 9.5 -57mm lens (also pretty big)
- CF Cards
- Azden sgm-1x shotgun microphone
- Cavision Film Plate and 250mm long rods
- ikan 5.6" HD monitor w/ accessories
- a laptop (likely a macbook or small macbook pro) for dumping footage and accessories (power cable, extra battery, card reader)

also, does anyone have any tips on how to pack CF cards?

thanks a lot

If it were me, I would wait till you get all your gear, then purchase a case.
Rather than getting a case, and seeing if it all fits after the fact.

As a side note, I like the latches on the Storm case much better than the Pelican case.

I agree, wait till you get the gear. Id never ever ship a lens attached to the camera I've seen several snapped off at the lens mount. Don't buy the foam or dividers. Buy a sheet of Plastazote foam and cut it to your requirements or better get a case insert routed out from Plastazote by a case company. It will cost less than the dividers.

5010 is a good case but Im not sure if its big enough. Id get at least 25mm of foam around each object in the case.

CF cards fit in a Peli CF card case, 4 in one case. They are great.

Also, I wouldn't plan to ever put that camera case in the hold of a plane with a camera in it. Always hand carry. Always...

There have been a number of discussions about this case and it's "carry on" ability. Although it is the right measurement, you'd be hard pressed to get a basic camera body/ lens/ battery in there without being well over the limit for weight. Some people do take their chances though...
