Hi,Anyone tried this combination or another that is almost the same? Other smart ways to have the Red ready in an instant? After playing around with the latest update, I find that I will use my red much for my stills work as well, and it would be nice to carry it ready.

I have both versions of the Peak clip. It is one of my favorite camera products as I like to have a DSLR at the ready when backpacking. I never use the safety screw and have only had one unintended release in hundreds of hours of use. In that case I was squeezing between some rocks and the release button was pressed. The camera and lens fell 15+ feet onto rock but were mostly unscathed -- the lens had a UV filter on and the metal band of the filter was the only thing damaged. I have to say Canon cameras and lenses (this was the 10-22mm) are as close to bulletproof as possible.

All that said, I have never tried the Clip with my Epic. I think the limitation may be having that much weight on a strap. In other words the Clip would probably work but it might be a very unwieldy load on your shoulder strap. Also, the Clip has some metal that is fairly soft, right where the dovetail is machined to snap into the Clip. I have a feeling that if you use too much weight on that part regularly you will find it harder and harder to clip in and out. I had one Clip wear out completely in this manner.

I will give my Epic a try next time I have the Clip set up and will post back here. I'm thinking that the 5" LCD will also be a bit of a challenge in a grab-n-shoot configuration like this.

Thank you for the reply. I agree about the Canon cameras. I think I just will go for one or two of those camera clips pro, since I will at least be able to use it with my canon 1dc. But please report back when you have tried. I am think that could be a challenge too, the lcd.
