Hi all,

About to begin editing my own short film, and looking to build a PC that's up for the task.

Planning to shoot 8K, and edit with 4K proxies on a 2K timeline. Reason for 4K proxies is to allow extensive look-around, reframing and stabilization within the edit. I'll have a lot of layers on the timeline, theoretically up to 3 video layers at once, cross-fading into each other. I'm also planning on doing some basic after effects work using the 4K proxies.

I'm not a professional editor / this short is probably the only thing I'll edit all year, so I'm looking to spend the least money possible on a system that'll perform reasonably well given the above demands. Not concerned about how long the transcodes take, just that it'll be able to deal with them without too much lag.

Also interested in input on a storage solution, for on-set data management, editing and archival. Shooting and post are happening sequentially so I don't need additional transport drives.

Any insight is much appreciated!
