Patience: the quality of being patient, as the bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint, loss of temper, irritation, or the like. Link to reference: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/patience

We're lucky the Scarlet IS going to exist soon. Just think if Scarlet were to never exist. It's just right around the corner and who knows what surprises will be announced when it is released.

With all due respect...suck it up.

Absolutely disagree! You all have totally missed the point.
Whatever you think/feel that Scarlet awaiters are doing on the forum (with regards to patience, respect etc...), the EPIC and EPIC accessories awaiters are doing the same and much worse things. But I haven't seen anyone commenting (from above) or voicing frustration in that manner.
If you feel frustrated or annoyed with some behaviors, it would be best for all to just ignore it.

This thread (and other recent ones) actually has nothing to do about patience. These recent threads are about a group of people thinking that a certain group of people is behaving "wrong". While I could agree about that being true, I can also say that this thinking group should look into a mirror and they would see the same exact thing. That's why I feel there is no sense in these threads.
There could also be a ton of threads opened advising patience on stages, mounts, whatever - threads voicing frustration about constant delivery questions on EPIC stuff etc.
Anybody who believes in a family philosophy of this forum should show compassion and not frustration (this comment is for David).

I honestly think Scarlet may have changed significantly since we last got word. Not externally, necessarily...but I think inside may beat the heart of a MONSTRO.

And I also have a slight feeling that Epic-S will become

That's perfectly fine if you disagree. You have every right, but I don't think I've missed the point at all. Although, some people (and I believe it's definitely not the majority) need to understand the way RED DIGITAL CINEMA does business. A lot of people who complain or are frustrated must take notice of Jannard's quote, "Everything in life changes... including our camera specs and delivery dates...". In my opinion, it's nonsense to feel any sort of frustration or impatience just by that quote and philosophy alone...or any sense that RED is not looking out for future customers.

That's just my two cents and I'm not trying to anger anyone. It's mostly just to remind people to be patient and in good fun.

By the way, I'm not mentioning anything about EPIC because this is a Scarlet forum.

It's not that quiet. But you could make it a bit louder. :)

Stage 2 target end date?

That might rock things around here...

David

PS: From SCAM to TARGET in five years. Nice. :)

It is a bit sad to see constant off topic questions about EPIC stages on Recon threads. It really adds a lot of noise. A bit more patience is welcomed indeed.

If Scarlet were being made by any other major camera maker you would not have heard of it yet. The camera is nearing the end of its development cycle and hasn't been released. In that sense Scarlet is just like every other camera that is in development and hasn't been released yet except for one thing: Red originally announced it as a concept at the beginning of its development cycle instead of at the end when it is a done deal like other manufacturer's do.
No question this has lead to both anticipation and frustration for those of us that have been following RED's development path over the last 3 years.
We all want this little baby in a bad way.
Personally I have enjoyed every bit of the ride and learned a lot along the way from this exceptional community.
With any other camera maker you would not know if they had hardware or software bugs that set the schedule back. You would not know if they had supplier problems, or were affected by world economic conditions or natural disasters. You would not have seen the remarkable progress in image quality over time and enjoyed gorgeous sample footage from Scarlet's sibling cameras Red 1 and Epic as well as some teasers from Scarlet itself. You would not have the privilege of downloading shared clips and exploring the creative advantages of RAW work flows with amazing free software and educational tips from some of the best cinematographers on the planet.
With any other major camera maker the new box would just show up on the shelf one day and you would know it costs X. Boring.
Whatever else you may say about RED and the RED community, it is definitely not boring. Entertaining, educational, tantalizing, exciting, frustrating at times, but not boring.
Scarlet will come. In the mean time enjoy the ride.

I couldn't agree with you more David. I've learned so much from the RED community and respect every aspect of RED. It's definitely been a fun and exciting ride.

And I'm perfectly fine with you disagreeing :-). I agree with you on the patience advice fully . What I don't agree with, is applying it exclusively on Scarlet awaiters. It's totaly applicable on EPIC awaiters too. This is the angle I'm coming from. The reason for the recently spawned threads is to calm down the Scarlet awaiters - which is strange since the need to calm down applies to everybody. Maybe this brings you closer to agreeing with me.

Haha! Yes, it does bring me closer to agreeing. :) I believe the "impatience" is taking place whether it be with Scarlet or Epic. This thread that I created is absolutely NOT targeted towards everybody in this Scarlet forum. Just the ones who might not fully understand how RED works that literally complain.

I will say I do respect those who debate because it helps to clear any sort of misunderstanding, which can occur when people read text. Kudos Sir! ;)
